If you’re already registered to vote, double-check to make sure that all your information is accurate.
If you’re not already registered for the Nov. 2 General Election, you can register through October 12th, 2021. (In-person or by mail deadline is 5 p.m.; online deadline is 11:59 p.m.)
PHOTO ID: You NO LONGER need a photo ID to vote in Virginia. You will need to show one form of identification, including any government document that shows your name and address, or a bank statement, utility bill, or paycheck. Click here for a full list of acceptable IDs.
When/Where to vote:
ELECTION DAY 2021 is Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Polling places are open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Click here to look up your polling place. Anyone in line at 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
ABSENTEE VOTING: As of July 1, 2020, any Virginia voter may vote absentee in-person or by mail. Absentee ballots are mailed out 45 days before the election.
In-person early voting: You can vote early at your local registrar’s office or at a satellite voting location beginning 45 days before Election Day and ending the Saturday before Election Day.
Vote by mail: You can request your ballot be mailed to you. Absentee ballots are mailed out 45 days before the election.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you for the November 2, 2021 General Election is 5pm on October 22. Request your absentee ballot here.
2021 Dates and Deadlines
October 12, 2021: Deadline to register to vote in General Election.
October 22, 2021: Deadline to apply by mail, fax, or email to vote absentee in the November 2, 2021 General Election.
Saturday, October 30, 2021: Deadline to request an absentee ballot in person for the November 2, 2021 General Election.
Tuesday, November 2, 2021: Election Day
All mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by your local registrar’s office by 12pm on Friday, November 5, 2021.
