Voter Registration:
If you’re already registered to vote, double-check to make sure that all your information is accurate.
The deadline to register for the January 10, 2023 Special Election is January 3rd (5:00 p.m. in person and 11:59 p.m. online). Voters may register to vote through Election Day. If you register after the January 3rd deadline, you can cast a provisional ballot.
PHOTO ID: You NO LONGER need a photo ID to vote in Virginia. You will need to show one form of identification, including any government document that shows your name and address, or a bank statement, utility bill, or paycheck. Click here for a full list of acceptable IDs.
When/Where to vote:
ELECTION DAY:
Election Day voting: Polling places are open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10th. Click here to look up your polling place. Anyone in line at 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
ABSENTEE VOTING:
In-person early voting: You can vote early in person now through January 7th at the registrar’s office. The Virginia Beach Registrar’s Office is open for voting 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends. The Norfolk Registrar’s Office is open for voting on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 31st and January 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Vote by mail: Voting by mail is a safe and convenient way to vote from home! You can request your ballot be mailed to you. The deadline to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you for the January 10th Special Election is 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 30th. To request a ballot, visit vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation. Mail ballots can be returned by mail, postmarked on or before election day, or returned in person at your local registrar’s office, or drop your completed mail-in ballot in a drop box by Election Day at 7:00 p.m.
